The Crossing Report

About The Crossing Report

The Crossing Report follows the freight that moves through the busiest trade crossing between the United States and Canada: the Detroit River and St. Clair River crossings, the Great Lakes ports, the cargo airports, and the highways that feed them.

We publish official border wait times and fuel prices in a form that is quick to read on a phone in a truck cab, and we gather corridor headlines from trusted publishers so dispatchers, drivers, brokers and shippers can scan them in one place. Every headline links to the original story.

Data we publish

Wait times come from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Canada Border Services Agency. Diesel prices come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the Ontario Ministry of Energy, converted with Bank of Canada exchange rates. Machine-readable data is available at /api/wait-times and /data/diesel.json.
